The Super Sabre was one of the first aircraft with supersonic capabilities to enter service with the US Air Force in the 1950s. Along with the single-seat version, a two-seat version was simultaneously developed to facilitate the transition and training of pilots on the new aircraft. The "F" version, characterized by the lengthening of the fuselage to accommodate a second cockpit, retained the characteristics of the single-seat aircraft unchanged. During its operational career, the F-100 was widely used in the Vietnam conflict in the 1960s; in this case, the two-seater aircraft were used in the role of attacking North Vietnam's missile defenses.
