Chengdu J-20 is a Chinese fighter of the fourth (according to Chinese nomenclature) or fifth generation (according to Western). Developed by the Aviation Industry Corporation in Chengdu (Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation).
In 2009, in a television interview, the deputy commander of the People's Liberation Army Air Force stated that China is developing a fifth-generation fighter program, jointly by Chengdu Aircraft Corporation and Shenyang Aircraft Corporation. The fighter entered service in 2017.
