Junkers Ju 88 is a twin-engine, multi-role Luftwaffe aircraft of World War II. The aircraft was developed by Hugo Junkers in the mid-1930s, as part of the project to develop a "fast bomber" (German: Schnellbomber), and was supposed to be faster than any fighter of that period, the aircraft had a number of technical problems at a later stage of development, but this did not prevent it from becoming one of the most versatile combat aircraft of the war.
The pilots affectionately nicknamed the Ju 88 the "maid for all jobs" (German: Mädchen für Alles), and the aircraft truly excelled in any role. Like a number of other Luftwaffe bombers, it was successfully used as a bomber, dive bomber, torpedo
