Su-35 (Su-27M, factory code T-10M) (NATO code: Flanker-E) is a fourth-generation Soviet multi-role fighter. Developed at the Sukhoi Design Bureau as a further development of the Su-27. The first flight was made on June 28, 1988 (T-10M-1 prototype). The first serial aircraft took off on April 1, 1992. In the first half of the 1990s, 12 prototypes were released, later the program was discontinued in favor of the development of the Su-37 (subsequently, this program was also curtailed due to the crash of the prototype). In 2005, it was decided to resume development of the Su-35, the updated fighter received the index Su-35BM.
