The M10 Wolverine (called the Wolverine) was an American World War II tank destroyer. The tank destroyer, a vehicle with high mobility and firepower, was badly needed in the early 1940s. Efforts were made to expedite work on the project as quickly as possible, but it was not accepted until September 1942. The result was a machine based on the M4A2 hull, slightly flattened from above, with an unusual half-open turret. Such a decision, along with minimizing armor, was supposed to reduce weight, and therefore increase the mobility of the new tank destroyer.
