In the 1930s, Henschel was tasked with designing and building an attack aircraft capable of supporting ground forces. Based on this specific request, the rugged Henschel Hs-123 biplane was created and began being delivered to units in 1935. The first combat use occurred during the Spanish Civil War in the flying units of the Condor Legion. Thanks to the BMW radial engine with 880 hp. Henschel Hs-123 could reach a maximum speed of 340 km/h. and could carry a good offensive load. During World War II, although it demonstrated durability and reliability, rapid technological evolution and engine development relegated it to support duties.
