The Challenger 1 is a British main battle tank during the Cold War. The first prototypes of this machine were built in the mid-1970s, and mass production was carried out in 1982-1990. In its course, more than 400 machines of this type were created. The tank was equipped with one 1200 hp Rolls-Royce CV-12 diesel engine. Its armament consisted of one 120mm L11A5 rifled cannon and two 7.62mm machine guns.
