The T-72 is a Soviet main battle tank of the second generation, which began to be produced in 1970. It was developed directly on the basis of the Object-172 and has similar characteristics to the T-64A. The T-72 was one of the most widely produced post-WWII tanks, second only to the T-54/55 family, and the basic design was also refined as the T-90.
