T-80U (GBTU index - Object 219AS) - Soviet main battle tank of the T-80 family. It was produced since 1985 in Leningrad and Omsk, and in Kharkov they produced T-80UD (Object 478B) - a version of the T-80U with a diesel engine, not a gas turbine engine. T-80U and UD were the most powerful tanks of the USSR.
Compared to the previous T-80B/BV models, the T-80U tank received the 1A45 Irtysh weapons control system, the 9K119 Reflex guided weapons complex, and built-in Kontakt-5 dynamic protection; due to this, the mass of the combat vehicle increased from 43.7 to 46 tons. A total of several hundred T-80U units were manufactured. They are in service with Cyprus, South Korea, Russia, and from 2022, Ukraine.
