The most massive and famous tank in world history was the Soviet T-34. It was developed in the Design Bureau of the Kharkov Plant No. 183 under the direction of M.I. Koshkin.
Serial production began in 1940. It was the first mass-produced tank with anti-shell armor, a powerful diesel engine and a long-barreled 76.2 mm gun. Until the end of 1941, he was the best tank in the world.
The last modification of the T-34-85 with an enlarged three-man turret and a more powerful 85 mm gun was produced from January 1944.
The T-34 with 85 mm guns (D-5T, later S-53 and ZiS-S53) became the main Soviet medium tank until the end of World War II. In 1944-1946, 25,914 T-34-85 tanks were produced at three factor
