The most numerous and famous tank in world history was the Soviet T-34. Developed in the Design Bureau of Kharkov Plant No. 183 under the leadership of M.I. Koshkin.
Its serial production began in 1940. It was the first serial tank with shell-proof armor, a powerful diesel engine and a 76.2-mm long-barreled gun. It was the best tank in the world until the end of 1941.
The last modification of the T-34-85 with an enlarged 3-man turret and a more powerful 85 mm gun was produced from January 1944.
