The T-64 was conceived in Kharkov as a new generation main battle tank by Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Morozov, the designer of the T-54.
A revolutionary feature of the T-64 is the presence of an automatic loader for its 125 mm gun, which eliminates the need to indicate the position of a crew member and helps to reduce the size and weight of the tank, and the T-64B of 1976 will be able to launch a guided anti-tank missile through the gun barrel.
