It was produced on the basis of the chassis of the decommissioned Panzer II Ausf F light tank. Production was located at various enterprises, mainly in Poland. It was serially produced from February 1943 to mid-1944, a total of 662 vehicles and 158 ammunition transporters were produced at its base.
