The Romanesque Church of San Andrés, situated on a small hill opposite the magnificent Ceballos Palace, with which it forms a beautiful collection of buildings, is one of the most outstanding monuments in the Pisunha Valley, related in style to the nearby Collegiate Church of Santa Cruz. in Castañeda.
Probably built in the first half of the 12th century, it was an abbey that later became a dependency of the Ceballos family. This family had a closed estate in which there were, in addition to the church, five houses and a mill. The inhabitants were free people and were exempted from taxes.
