Description
The first flight of the MBB BK 117 took place in 1982. An updated version of the EC 145 is built using composite materials.
In 2006, a military version of the EC 145 was ordered for the United States Army. The deal provides for the delivery of 345 helicopters. The total cost (including maintenance and repairs) is about $3 billion.
On May 3, 2011, the Kazakh company Kazakhstan Engineering, an analogue of the Russian state corporation Rostekhnologii, signed an agreement formalizing the creation of a joint venture Eurocopter Kazakhstan Engineering, which will assemble and customize EC145 helicopters in Astana.
