The Jaguar ground attack aircraft, born in the 1960s from a collaborative project between the French and British aeronautical industries, was used by the Royal Air Force until the mid-2000s, demonstrating extraordinary longevity and operational efficiency. Thanks to its two turbo-jet engines it was able to reach and exceed mach 1.6. It was employed, completing numerous missions, in operational areas characterized by a high level of complexity, including the Balkans and Iraq. In particular, the single-seat "all-weather" Jaguar Gr. 3 version has been significantly updated in its avionics and has been equipped with terrain mapping and GPS targeting systems to optimize its role as a ground attack aircraft.
