F-4 Phantom II (Ukrainian: "Phantom") is a third-generation multi-role fighter, ground support aircraft.
Until 1962, it had the separate designations F4H and F-110 Specter in the Navy and Air Force, respectively, causing confusion and notably leading to the current aviation and missile designation system in which the aircraft received the common designation F-4 Phantom II.
