The Soviet biplane piston fighter I-153, which was also called the "Seagull", was created in 1938 at the Polikarpov Design Bureau. It was a development of the I-15 fighter line, had a chassis that folded into the fuselage (unlike the simple chassis of the I-15) and was considered one of the most advanced biplane fighters at the time. A total of 3,437 of these aircraft were produced. For the first time, the I-153 was used in battles with Japanese aircraft in the skies of Mongolia in the summer of 1939, however, when the war between Germany and the Soviet Union began, this fighter was already considered obsolete - due to
