The Blackburn Buccaneer was developed in the 1950s as a carrier-based strike aircraft for the Royal Navy. Its primary mission was anti-ship and low-level strike operations. The S.2D variant featured more powerful Rolls-Royce Spey engines and updated avionics. In addition to Royal Navy service, the Buccaneer was also operated by the Royal Air Force.
