The HMMWV (the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle), also known as the Humvee, is an all-wheel drive military vehicle produced by the American company AM General.
Since its adoption by the US armed forces in the 1980s, various modifications have been created on the basis of the Humvee: the main military vehicle, a light truck, an ambulance, mobile radars and air defense systems, engineering and armored vehicles, etc.
During the Persian Gulf War, the Humvee became so popular that AM General produced a civilian modification under the Hummer brand, which the company sold the rights to General Motors Corporation in 1999, and which is currently represented by three models: the H1, H2 and H3.
