The 280-mm mortar M1939 (Br-5) is a Soviet heavy artillery installation used during World War II, it was the heaviest field unit of the Red Army during the war. The Br-5 mortar was a towed mortar of 279.4 mm (11 inches) caliber with a barrel length of 14.2 calibers, had the same tracked box carriage as the 152-mm gun M1935 (Br-2). The carriage allowed the weapon to be transported over short distances at a speed of 5-8 km/h; for longer distances, the barrel was removed from the carriage and transported separately on a special Br-10 wheeled cart at a speed of 25 km/h.
