Lockheed SR-71 "Blackbird" is an American supersonic reconnaissance aircraft of the Cold War period. Capable of reaching speeds of over Mach 3 and reaching significant flight altitudes. It is the fastest manned aircraft in the world.
The predecessor of the SR-71 is considered to be the Lockheed A-12 high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft, created by order of the CIA. Also included in this series of high-speed aircraft developed by Lockheed is the YF-12 interceptor.
