The F-14 Tomcat is a two-seat jet carrier-based interceptor, a fourth-generation multi-role fighter with a variable-sweep wing manufactured by Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation.
Developed in the early 1970s to replace the F-4 Phantom II. It was exported to Iran until the Islamic Revolution of 1978, where it is still in service. Decommissioned from service in the US Navy in 2006 and replaced by the F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet.
A two-seat all-weather fighter-interceptor for the US Navy. Later, precision-guided munitions were added to the armament. 545 aircraft were delivered to the US Navy. The last 102 aircraft were equipped with improved TF30-P-414A engines.
