Su-27 (NATO classification - Flanker) is a Soviet heavy multi-purpose highly maneuverable all-weather fighter of the fourth generation. Created with the aim of gaining air superiority. Developed at the Sukhoi Design Bureau, operation in the Air Force began in 1985, but was officially adopted for service only in 1990.
Su-27UB (T-10U/"Flanker-C") is a two-seat training and combat modification. Serially produced since 1986.
In early September 2022, photos of a Ukrainian Su-27 with a pair of AGM-88 HARM anti-radar missiles suspended were circulated. And in August 2023, it became known that Ukrainian Su-27s had been adapted to drop JDAM-ER guided bombs.
