North American F-86 "Sabre" is an American jet fighter developed by North American Aviation in the late 1940s. The prototype of the serial XP-86 took to the air on October 1, 1947.
The F-86 was adopted by the US Air Force in 1949. The first aircraft were transferred to the first fighter air regiment of the 94th fighter squadron. The F-86 became the primary American jet fighter during the Korean War.
