Mitsubishi A6M Zero ("A" - fighter; "6" - model; "M" - Mitsubishi) is a Japanese light carrier-based fighter of the Second World War. It was produced from 1940 to 1945, a total of 10,939 units were built. The A6M had a technical advantage over the Allied aircraft until early 1942, when American units began to be armed with P-38s that could dictate the conditions of the battle by using their superiority in flight characteristics at altitude.
