Serial production of the Hs 123 aircraft began in September 1936. Its main purpose was to be air support for ground forces, and its armament included two synchronous machine guns and bombs with a total weight of up to 450 kg. Hs 123s entered service with groups of aircraft providing direct infantry support, and were also massively used by training units. With the beginning of World War II, these aircraft were used during the invasion of Poland, and a little later - in France and the Balkans, demonstrating high survivability.
