"Msta-S" (GRAU index - 2S19, according to NATO classification - M1990) is a modern Soviet and Russian self-propelled artillery installation (ACS) of the self-propelled howitzer class, built on the basis of the chassis of the T-80 tank and the 2A64 gun (basically similar to the towed gun 2A65 "Msta-B"). Developed at the Ural Transport Engineering Plant. The chief designer of the self-propelled guns is Yu. V. Tomashov, the 152-mm 2A64 guns are G. I. Sergeev. SAU 2S19 is designed to destroy tactical nuclear weapons, artillery and mortar batteries, tanks and other armored vehicles, anti-tank weapons, manpower, air defense and missile defense systems, command posts, as well as to destroy field fortifications and prevent maneuvers of enem
