155 mm Howitzer M114 is an American field howitzer of the Second World War. It was developed in 1939-1941 to replace the obsolete 155-mm Schneider howitzer of the First World War, to take a place in the weapons system between the light 105-mm field M2 and the hull guns of heavy artillery. It was serially produced, under the designation M1, from October 1942 to June 1945, a total of 4035 systems of this type were produced (1942 — 19, 1943—1469, 1944—1949, 1945—598). The peak of production, 206 howitzers, fell on June 1944.
