The Boeing CH-47 Chinook is one of the most famous heavy transport helicopters in the history of military aviation. A characteristic feature is the presence of two main rotors: one above the cabin and one in the tail. it was designed to meet the transport needs of the US Army and replace the now obsolete H-21. The Chinook was produced in numerous versions and variations and was adopted into service in many countries around the world. The British Royal Air Force is the largest user of Chinooks after the United States. Since the HC.1, the first version based on the CH-47C configuration, numerous examples have been fielded, often used in theaters such as the Falkland Islands, Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan.
