I-16 (TsKB-12) "fighter of the sixteenth" (colloquially - "Ishak", "donkey") - a Soviet single-engine monoplane fighter of the 1930s, created at the Research Design Bureau of the Soviet Aircraft Designer Nikolai Polikarpov.
I-16 type 10 - M-25V engine with 750 hp. s., Armament 4 ShKAS, of which 2 are synchronous above the engine with 650 rounds per barrel. Takeoff weight increased to 1700 kg. The aircraft was built in large quantities in the USSR, its licensed production was established in Spain. Several copies are equipped with a more powerful American engine, significantly improving the chances in battles with Messerschmitt's Bf.109.
