"Fennec" (Dutch / German Fennek - "Fenech") is a modern light reconnaissance armored car, jointly developed by Germany and the Netherlands. Created by the German company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and the Dutch SP Aerospace and Vehicle Systems BV.
The first prototype of the Fenech was completed in 2000, and since 2001 its mass production began. The first sample was adopted by the Netherlands in July 2003 and in Germany in December 2006.
The total order for armored vehicles amounted to 612 vehicles, including 410 for the Royal Netherlands Army and 202 for the German army, in several versions, including ATGM carriers.
