LWS (abbreviation from the German Landwasserschlepper) is a German tracked amphibian of the Second World War. Design work on it began in 1935, but in 1940 the first copies were ready. The manufacturer was the Rheinmetall-Borsig concern. Initially, the design was supposed to be used during the amphibious landings in England in 1940, but when this did not happen, the LWS was used mainly for transportation on the large rivers of Russia. The drive was provided by a Maybach HL-120 engine with a capacity of 300 hp. The machine was produced in small batches and after 1940 was definitely considered a secondary project.
