UH - 1D SLICK - Military helicopter with one gas turbine engine, made according to the classic design with a tail rotor (KG). The helicopter was developed in 1952 by Bell Helicopter for the US Army as a casualty rescue and delivery vehicle. The first flight took place on October 20, 1956. The helicopter was put on the assembly line in 1960. It was the first gas turbine helicopter of the US Army. The helicopter proved its feasibility during the Vietnam War. During the war, approximately 7,000 helicopters were flown to Vietnam.
