The Hawker Hurricane was the most common fighter aircraft used by the British Royal Air Force at the start of World War II. He made a significant contribution to the victory of the R.A.F. during the Battle of Britain, but as the war progressed it gradually lost its role as a front-line fighter to the much more modern Spitfire. Hurricane gradually changed its role, offering very specific versions and equipment. It did have significant armament, consisting of four powerful 20 mm Hispano-Suiza cannons with 400 rounds of ammunition.
