When the Germans attacked the USSR in 1941, it became clear to the USA that the possibility of being involved in a conflict was growing even more; for this reason President Roosevelt himself ordered the production of the M4 tank. This was only partially new, deriving from the previous M3 "Grant" tank, from which it differed in some important innovations, such as the suppression of the secondary cupola and its 37 mm cannon, and in the upper hull, welded or cast. The "General Sherman", as the new tank was called, was equipped with a 75 mm cannon, but it became clear that it was insufficient to face the German tanks, and this led to a series of modifications - such as the adoption of a completely new one-piece 76 mm turret, more efficient than the previous one and additional armor - which gave rise to the M
