The "Dushka", as it is commonly known, was originally developed in 1938 and was improved after the war with a revised muzzle and feeding system, remaining in production until the 1980s. Due to its power, reliability and ease of maintenance, it was and remains a very popular HMG in both regular and irregular armies.
