GAZ-67 was a further development of the earlier GAZ-64. The main improvement was the wider track of 1446 mm. It also featured a reinforced chassis frame, larger fuel tank, and other improvements.
It was equipped with a slightly more powerful 54-horsepower version of the 3280 cc GAZ M1 4-cylinder petrol engine and had a top speed of 90 km/h.
Production began on September 23, 1943 (the first production car was produced). From January 1944, it was replaced by the GAZ-67B, which had some mechanical improvements.
