"Matilda" (Tank Infantry Mk II Matilda II) is a British medium infantry tank of the Second World War. Also marked as A12.
It was used from the beginning of the war until its end, especially associated with the North African campaign. It was replaced by the Mk III Valentine infantry tank. When its predecessor, the Mark I infantry tank, also known as the Matilda, was retired, the Mk II became known simply as the Matilda.
