Armor-S2 is an improved version of Armor-S1, which uses the same rocket launcher and anti-aircraft guns. Pantsir-S2 can launch new surface-to-air missiles, which increases the flight range from 20 to 30 km.
Pantsir-S2 is also equipped with a new search radar SOTS S-band, which increases the detection range from 36 km to more than 40 km. The new Pantisr-S2 entered service with the Russian army in 2015.
He was deployed to Syria to protect the Russian Air Force at the Khmeimim Air Base in Latakia.
