T-55 is a Soviet medium tank. Created on the basis of the T-54 tank. Produced from 1958 to 1979. The tank and its modification T-55A were widely exported and are in service with many countries of the world.
In Western sources, the T-54 and T-55 are often referred to as T-54/55. It became the first battle tank available in the troops to receive an active protection complex (Drozd).
