The HEMTT M984 is a highly mobile 8 x 8 tactical tow truck, heavy duty crane and winch. It provides assistance in heavy wheel lifting and crane/towing/technical lifting) for 10-ton and lighter tactical wheeled vehicles. Its lifting and towing system can raise disabled vehicles in two to three minutes.
The M984 tow truck is the only HEMTT variant that was produced in the A1 configuration, and this resulted in a change in the towing crane and lifting system between the A0 and A1 configurations. Current model is M984A4.
