Type 056 corvettes are a series of Chinese corvettes. China is positioning the ships of the series as low radar visibility missile corvettes equipped with a 76 mm gun mount. Modified versions of the corvette are exported and are in service with the navies of Thailand, Nigeria and Bangladesh.
Corvettes of the anti-submarine modification 056A are in service in the Navy of the People's Liberation Army. The other ships have been transferred to the Coast Guard of the People's Republic of China. Before that, missiles and torpedoes were dismantled from them, keeping the artillery weapons.
