The S-3 Viking is the standard anti-submarine warfare aircraft of the US Marine Corps, in service since the mid-70s. This large twin-engine aircraft is equipped with the latest electronics to control maritime missions and surveillance in close contact with the ships and helicopters tasked with protecting aircraft carriers. The Viking II has ample range thanks to in-flight refueling, allowing for long periods of patrol. In addition, the Viking II can carry a large amount of cargo in its large hold: torpedoes, depth charges and a huge number of buoys for receiving underwater signals.
